Madeline Island Historical
Preservation Association
Collecting and preserving the history
of Madeline Island families
MIHPA  is a non-profit membership organization. We have created a Heritage Center, a historic
park area on
Madeline Island, by restoring a few well-loved buildings along with a display of
antique "tools" of community life. Open
during the tourist season. (handicapped accessible)
Come see us on Madeline Island, one of the Apostle Islands in beautiful Lake
Superior.
We are very excited about the addition of the Veteran's Honor Garden, still under
construction,
we will have the main project completed by Memorial Day 2012 with hopes that part of our
Memorial Day service will be held at the Honor Garden.
MIHPA is supported through memberships, donations, and book sales of
"On The Rock:
The History of Madeline Island Told Through Its Families", and the
"Madeline Island Historical Cookbook".
We also hold several fund-raising events throughout the year.
Open House at MIHPA site in June
Island Home Tour in July
Annual Hunter's Feast in November
